MassPlus for Windows Installation Instructions:

If you are using AutoCAD LT you will need to view mp.acadlt.doc instead of this document.
AutoCAD LT does not have AutoLisp and the installation instructions are different.

However, there is another version of MassPlus called MassPlus LT for Windows.  This  version accepts DXF files directly from any CAD application.  You may download a trial version of the software from http://www.slickwin.com/mpftp/mpwinLTx.exe.

Step I:
--------

From the internet
-------------------

-Download MPWIN.ZIP from the CAD Systems Unlimitd, Inc. website

-Unzip MPWIN.ZIP into a temporary folder on your harddisk

-If you are using AutoCAD, copy all the files from the temporary folder to the AutoCAD  folder where acad.exe is located (typically, c:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2002\);
 
 If you are using IntelliCAD, copy the files to the folder where icad.exe is located  (typically, c:\Program Files\Cadopia\IntelliCAD\);


From the CD
------------

-If you are using AutoCAD, copy all the files from the MassPlus CD to the AutoCAD  folder where acad.exe is located (typically, c:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2002\);
 
 If you are using IntelliCAD, copy the CD files to the folder where icad.exe is located  (typically, c:\Program Files\Cadopia\IntelliCAD\);

Step II
-------

-Start AutoCAD or IntelliCAD

-Open the drawing you want to calculate moments of inertia for

-At AutoCAD or IntelliCAD command level, type script

-Select and Open the script file MPWIN.SCR;

-At Command level enter: MP

-Select objects (select all the entities to be included in the calculation using the  windows option (w) or by selecting individual entities;

 NOTE: when selecting objects, select only lines, arcs, and circles; lightweight polylines  will be automatically exploded;

-Press enter when you have finished selecting all the entities belonging to the area to be  analyzed;

-This launches Massplus for Windows

-The "Calculate" dialog box will be automatically displayed

-Select the number of component areas to use for calculations

-The demonstration copy will limit the component areas to 5; 
 the licensed version will allow up to 50,000 component areas for increased accuracy;

-Enter the number of significant decimal positions desired

-Select whether the Drawing Units are in inches or millimeters

-Click on the "Calculate" button;

-MassPlus will display the number of entities processed; Click OK;

-The results will be displayed on the screen

-Exit the Calculate dialog box to go to the Main Menu;
 
-At the Main Menu you can:
 Print, re-Calculate, enter your license serial #, find Help, etc.

-Select File - Print to print the results

-Exit MassPlus when you are finished with the calculations; 
 NOTE: You can only exit MassPlus from the Main Menu; 

-To import the results into AutoCAD or IntelliCAD:
  at the Command prompt, type ANSWER

-Enter 1 to draw and display the principal axes;
       2 to include the results with the drawing;
       3 for both; 

-Save the drawing if you wish

-Repeat above for the next drawing
